No. 01 · The agreement, written down

The ship's articles.

Before a ship sailed, the crew read the articles and signed. Short, plain, and binding on both sides — that is the standard this page holds itself to. These terms cover every service we provide; a build also gets its own build sheet before a deposit changes hands.

Article 01

What we do

Amelia Island AI ("we," "us") builds and runs practical AI tools for local businesses: an assistant that answers on your website, ongoing site care and optimization, website builds, and related services as agreed with you in writing. "You" means the business signing up.

We are a local operation. The person who set up your service is the person who answers when something needs attention.

Article 02

Month to month, no minimum term

Monthly services carry no minimum term. Cancel whenever you like — just tell us in writing (email is fine). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for; we do not bill you again after that, and we do not charge exit fees.

Founding rates are locked: the price you started at is the price you keep for as long as the service runs continuously.

Some plans are paid a year at a time, in advance. These carry no minimum term either: tell us to stop whenever you like and the plan simply runs to the end of the year you have already paid for. We email you a month before a year is due to renew, so a renewal is never a surprise.

A website build can carry a monthly plan; the rate card states the current ones. The monthly starts when the site goes live, runs month to month like everything else, and ends whenever you tell us to stop — no fee, no notice period.

Article 03

Paying

  • Monthly services are billed in advance, each month.
  • Builds and one-time projects are half to begin, half at launch, as set out on the build sheet that accompanies the quote.
  • Annual prepay, where offered, is the only route to a waived setup fee.
  • A quote we have sent you is honored as sent.
  • If a payment fails we will tell you and try again before anything pauses. A service unpaid for 14 days may be paused until the account is current.

The assistant can be wrong

AI assistants are genuinely useful and genuinely fallible. Ours answers from the information you approve, and we build guardrails so it says "I don't know" rather than guessing — but no AI is right every time, and we do not promise yours will be.

  • You review what it says. You are responsible for checking, during setup and from time to time after, that the assistant describes your business the way you want. Tell us about any wrong answer and we will correct the underlying information promptly.
  • The assistant is not a substitute for professional advice. It must not be relied on for legal, medical, financial, or emergency matters, and you agree not to configure it to give any.
  • Our total liability to you, for anything arising out of these services, is capped at the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in this article limits what the law does not allow to be limited.

Article 05

Your data belongs to you

Your customer list, your conversations, your content: they belong to you, you take them with you if you leave, and we never sell them. Full stop.

  • We use your business information and your customers' messages for one purpose: running your service — answering, capturing, and handing you the follow-ups.
  • We keep anonymized, aggregated learnings — what kinds of questions get asked, what answers work — to make the service better for every business on it. Nothing in that aggregate identifies your customers or is traceable to your list.
  • When you leave, we export your data on request and then delete our working copy. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Article 06

Your side of the deal

  • Give us accurate business information, and tell us when it changes — the assistant is only as right as what it is taught.
  • Only give us content you have the rights to (text, photos, logos).
  • Comply with the laws that apply to your own customer communications. Florida requires all-party consent to record a phone call, and business text messaging is subject to carrier registration and consent rules — where a service of ours involves either, we will tell you what is needed and you agree to cooperate with it.
  • Don't use the service for anything unlawful, deceptive, or harmful.

Article 07

What stays whose

Your content and your data stay yours. Our platform — the software, prompts, configurations, and methods that run the service — stays ours, including improvements we make while serving you. On final payment for a website build, the site we built you is yours.

The local directory, the written descriptions in it, and the island knowledge behind the assistant's answers are ours too. Plain facts are not: a business's name, address, phone and hours, a tide time, a bridge closure, the date of a festival — those belong to nobody and we make no claim on them. What we claim is the writing. Every description and every entry of local knowledge on this site was researched and written by hand, and the collection as a whole is our compilation. You are welcome to read it, link to it, quote a line of it with credit, and point people at it. Copying the writing, or reproducing the directory or that knowledge in bulk to stand up something similar, is not something we license.

If your assistant carries our island knowledge, that is licensed for answering your own customers on your own site. It is not licensed for running a public information service. Putting it behind a general "ask us anything about the island" front door, or offering local answers as a service of its own, is outside what you are paying for and we will ask you to stop. Answering a visitor who is already on your site, in your own voice, about the place your business sits in, is exactly what it is for.

Article 08

Leaving

No lock-in and no hostage-taking. If you cancel: the service runs to the end of the paid period, your data is exported to you on request, and anything we built that you paid for in full goes with you. The assistant itself — our platform — goes dark for your site when the service ends.

On a yearly plan that is not renewed, the same applies at the end of the year you paid for: the site stops being served and the files are yours to take, at no charge. If you would rather we move it to wherever you want it to live and point your domain at it, that is work rather than release, so it carries a one-time fee — agreed with you before anything starts, never after.

Article 09

If something goes wrong

Tell us first — hello@AmeliaIslandAI.com — and we will make it right where it can be made right. Services are provided as-is beyond what these articles promise. These terms are governed by Florida law, and any dispute belongs in the courts of Nassau County, Florida.

Article 10

Changes to these terms

We may update these articles as the services grow. If a change materially affects you, we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance. The date at the top is always the version you are reading.
